FORWARD


Why I was asked to write this, I still don't understand. Amy should have, but she has already done her book on the later years, and visualizing them as young men, fresh and optimistic - I suppose, after all that's happened, it would be hard to think of them in those terms. I know it was for me, and I didn't know them nearly as well as she did. Maybe that's why she asked me to do this. I guess that should have felt like an insult, but I took it as a compliment to my somewhat different skills as a researcher. I won't be going into too much detail about these early years, as there aren't a lot of records left on the guys, but hopefully I can let people have a glimpse of the lives they led before that fateful day in January of 1971...
