If this was a movie, he'd have fired the casting director. But the military could care less if people meshed as long as they had the skills needed to do the job.
And what had they sent him? A smart-ass officer from LA, still wet behind the ears; a belligerent sergeant from Chicago with an attitude that would choke a horse; another sergeant so hick it rolled off him thicker than his accent.
And here he was, career officer, trying to pull these guys together and keep them from killing each other until the mission was over.
Sure. He'd be lucky if they lasted a week. Hell, a day...
"Hey, Hannibal!"
He started, looking up from the steaks that were quickly turning to ash.
"Stockwell's here, with another one of those 'put your head in the lion's mouth' folders."
Hannibal grinned.
