"Hannibal..."

"Shh. Let me think!"

Murdock sat back, angry and desperate. He knew the colonel would think of something. He knew it - and yet...

He peered down into the canyon where Reese and his men were. Reese, his men - and BA. Reese was waiting, impatiently, for Hannibal to surrender. For their rifles to come sliding down the embankment. For Hannibal to decide if BA lived or died.

If Face were there, Murdock knew there would be no problem. Face could shoot the wing off a fly; the guy holding the gun on BA wouldn't have had a chance. But Face was back in the van, a bullet in his leg. It was only Murdock and Hannibal and a hot desert full of nothing.

Then Hannibal chuckled, looking back at Murdock.

And pointed to the outcropping above Reese's gang, with the one, rotted tree holding it all in place...
